Paula Bogdan was born on January 24, 1953, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Paula’s father, Edward Banach, was a milkman for Sunny Slope Dairy, eventually becoming Highland Dairy. When Highland Dairy closed, her father became a press operator for Maxwell Graphics in Exton, Pennsylvania. Maxwell Graphics eventually became Quebecor. Paula’s father retired from Quebecor at the age of 65.
Paula’s mother, Anne Banach, worked in a sewing factory in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Paula’s mom left the sewing factory to be a full-time mother.
Paula is the oldest of four siblings. Following in her footsteps are her sister Denise Mariano, now living in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Brother Michael Banach, who lives in Paradise, Pennsylvania, and sister Joanne Trolio, living in Media, Pennsylvania.
Paula always had an interest in art, drawing, doodling, coloring, painting, sewing, etc. She painted murals for St Columbkille Catholic School in Papillion, Nebraska. She first learned to do Macrame, then taught Macrame classes in Bellevue, Nebraska.
Paula expanded her artistic interest following our move to Washington, DC. She explored mixed media, altered books, journaling, collage, eco-dying, cyanotype, and photography. And a host of other artistic capabilities. She collaborated with several artists at times. Some publications published Paula’s journal pages, photographs, or other works of art.
Paula’s dream was to combine her photography and art and to write and self-publish her work. Sadly, her dream never came to fruition. Paula passed away on July 1, 2021.
